'Louise in Pink' is my new portrait of silent film star Louise Brooks. She's one of a series of portraits called 'How to be Beautiful'. These paintings explore our ideals of female beauty... and how they shape how we see ourselves. Louise was the original 'It Girl'. She married millionaires, slept with Greta Garbo and eventually became a noted film writer. But at thirty-six, divorced and out of work in 1940s New York, found that “the only well-paying career open to me... ...was that of a call girl”.
Here you can see 'Louise in Pink' in our square addition, with two available sizes. Both fit Ikea's largest square 'Ribba' frame in 50cm (as photographed). The 30cm size fits within the mount, the 50cm print fills the entire frame.
